Snapshot

Tom Randall was elected as the Conservative MP for Gedling at the 2019 general election, taking the seat from the long-serving Labour incumbent Vernon Coaker by just 679 votes (one of the most marginal seats in the country). Randall grew up in Arnold, in his constituency, and read law at the University of Oxford. Before becoming an MP, Randall was a solicitor, working with commercial clients, and also on an Olympic Games. He contested a local government election for a Canary Wharf seat in the Tower Hamlets London Borough Council in 2018 but was unsuccessful, losing by just seven votes. At the time of his election to Gedling in 2018, he was working for a professional membership organisation working with NHS doctors. He voted Leave in the 2016 referendum in line with his constituency, and has campaigned on local issues such as flooding and energy-efficient homes. Randall is currently a member of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he has campaigned for more government support for pubs which fall victim to the strict lockdown measures of 2020.
