The European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) is the independent research and training centre of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), whose mission is to build bridges between the worlds of research and labour, as well as to support the European trade union movement. The ETUI of today is the result of a 2005 merger of the original ETUI (founded in 1978) with the European Trade Union College and the Trade Union Technical Bureau. It comprises research around three specialist subjects – the Europeanisation of industrial relations; economic, employment and social policies; and working conditions, health and safety – as well as including an education department.
