Marie Rumsby is UK director of Global Citizen, a charity aiming to eradicate poverty, encourage increased involvement in the aid sector and protect the planet. Her role sees her oversee all of Global Citizen’s activities in the UK, including policy, advocacy, campaigns, partnerships, communications and events. Rumsby previously led Global Citizen’s food security nutrition work as director within the Global Policy and Government Affairs team. Her career has covered work in policy, advocacy and campaigning, with a focus on sustainable development, food security and nutrition. Before joining Global Citizen, Rumsby was head of hunger and nutrition at Save the Children UK – a policy-focused position in which she led a team of policy advisors and authored key reports such as the Unequal Portions study. She has served as vice-chair of the global Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Network and as senior policy adviser at the Royal Society, leading on sustainability and food security. She was lead author on the ‘People and the Planet’ study.
