Deborah Williams is an award-winning actress, writer and theatre maker with over 20 years of experience in creating and presenting work that (amongst other things) challenges ideas of diversity. Since 2016, she has been CEO of The Creative Diversity Network, a body funded by the UK’s major broadcasters, assembling organisations across the UK television industry to promote good practice around the diversity agenda. Williams’s priority for 2021 is the CDN’s current annual project, Doubling Disability: a “commitment to double the percentage of disabled people working in off screen roles in UK broadcasting”. Prominent past roles that Williams has held include: senior officer for equality and diversity at Arts Council England; diversity manager at the BFI; and advisor to the UN and UNICEF on the rights of disabled people to cultural activities.
