Ryan Shorthouse founded moderate think tank Bright Blue in 2014 to apply liberal conservative ideas and insights to tackle the major economic and social problems of the modern day. The organisation has particularly impacted government thinking on social policy, the environment and energy. Previously a research fellow at the Social Market Foundation and a researcher for David Willetts when he was shadow education secretary, Shorthouse authored the Conservative Partys Childhood Review and has advised Downing Street on families and education. He is a Senior Visiting Fellow at Kings College London, a trustee of the Early Intervention Foundation and a mentor for the Social Mobility Foundation.
