Harriett Baldwin is the Conservative MP for West Worcestershire and a former minister. She was elected to parliament in 2010 after a successful career in investment banking, including a stint as a managing director at JP Morgan Chase. In the commons, her foci have been foreign affairs, defence and the economy. She has sat on the Work and Pensions Committee, was PPS to the minister for employment and was vice-chair to the APPG on Occupational Pensions. She was also the prime minister’s trade envoy to Russia and chaired the APPG on Russian. Under Theresa May, Baldwin then was minister for defence procurement and later minister of state for Africa. In the latter role, Baldwin helped procure £30 million of aid to be invested in African Energy. Baldwin campaigned for Remain in 2016. but later backed Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement. She has said the fiscal deficit is the most important political issue facing the country today, and that global education is the biggest challenge facing the world.
