Helena Morrissey was appointed as lead non-executive director at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in July 2020; she subsequently transferred to lead non-executive director of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in September 2020. Morrissey has over three decades’ experience in the financial services sector. This includes 15 years as CEO of Newton Investment Management, during which time the firm’s assets under management grew from £20 billion to £50 billion. She was also chair of the Investment Association from 2014 to 2017, the UK investment industry’s trade body. Morrissey is well known for her work on inclusion and diversity. In 2010, she founded the 30% Club, a business-led campaign for better gender-balanced boards. There are now fourteen 30% Clubs throughout the world. Morrissey’s other current roles include non-executive director at St James Place Wealth Management, chair of The Diversity Project, advisory board member at Edelman and fellow at Eton College.
