Ty Goodard co-founded the Education Foundation with Ian Fordham in November 2011. An experienced analyst and commentator on education issues, he was a students’ union officer at University of Sussex and worked on the campus tabloid, before joining Labour MP Tony Lloyd’s office in 1988. His first job in education was as an executive councillor with the education brief at Lambeth Council from 1998 to 2001. Goddard followed this with stints at the Social Market Foundation, the former Department for Children, Schools and Families and Brighton & Hove Council. Goddard is also chair of education and tech consultancy Edtech. He has criticised the Department for Education after a report by MPs found it had “no plans” for dealing with a pandemic
