David Bates is a senior adviser on EU and UK public affairs, with a digital and tech policy focus – and a particular interest in FoodTech. He develops Landmark’s public affairs capability, maintaining the hands-on senior approach with clients for which the company is known. His professional background prior to consultancy covers Brussels, London, Edinburgh and Athens; working at the Council of the EU (as an attaché), the European Commission (as a national expert), the UK House of Commons (as a clerk), the UK civil service, the OECD, corporate policy & regulatory roles (ITV, Royal Mail Group), and trade associations.
