Ian King is the lead non-executive director for the Department for Transport as of July 2020, when he was brought in to strengthen the oversight of HS2. King is a businessman and former CEO of BAE Systems, a British multinational arms, security and aerospace company. After leaving BAE in 2017, King moved into corporate finance as a senior adviser to boutique advisory firm Gleacher Shacklock where he used his 40 years of expertise in the defence sector to help boost aerospace and defence business. King was also a non-executive director of Rotork plc, an engineering company.
