Peter Hinton has been involved with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists since 1987, and he is now CEO. CIfA is the leading professional body representing archaeologists working in the UK and overseas promoting high professional standards and ethics in archaeological practice. As CEO, Hinton has sought to raise the profile of archaeology in the public sphere. This is a cause he has always been committed to throughout his career as an archaeologist. Before his time at the CIfA, Hinton was a volunteer field architect and later head of specialist services for the Museum of London and a senior manager responsible for post-excavation administration.
