Paul Scully

Paul Scully set up the Nudge Factory lobbying and public relations firm. As a former Sutton councillor, Scully has emphasised his understanding of the local issues in the constituency which has been his home for around three decades. Combined with this local attention, Scully’s has demonstrated an interest in global affairs. His Burmese heritage led him to visit a refugee camp on the Bangladeshi-Burmese border in 2017 and call on Britain to take a role in ending the country’s internal conflict. His membership of the International Development Committee, the its sub-committee on the work of the independent commission for aid impact, the Petitions Select Committee, various APPGs and his role as the prime minister’s trade envoy to Burma, Brunei and Thailand has also extended his interest in British relations with developing countries. In addition to this, Scully has long been a Eurosceptic, previously voting for the anti-EU Referendum Party. He has voted with the government on all Brexit matters and, in December 2017, this aided him secure the role of vice-chair of the Conservative Party in London after his predecessor Stephen Hammond was sacked for rebelling against the government’s withdrawal bill.
