He was elected to his North West seat in 2010, winning the seat from Labour with a majority of 4,493. That year, he became parliamentary private secretary (PPS) to then-housing minister Grant Shapps. Berry voted Remain in the 2016 referendum and held his seat in the 2017 general election with a majority of 3,216. He backed Boris Johnson in the 2019 Conservative leadership contest and became a minister of state shortly after his victory. He was re-elected at the 2019 general election with an increased majority of 9,522. Berry resigned his ministerial role in February 2020 after being offered an alternative post.
