Snapshot

Stuart Anderson joined the army upon leaving school, getting shot in the leg aged 17 during a training exercise, triggering a period of alcohol dependency. He served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Kosovo. Anderson then worked in close protection for international high profile clients including US federal government officials. In 2005, Anderson co-founded Anubis Associates offering a range of close protection, personal protection and training courses. The company collapsed in 2012: Anderson was ordered to pay back £271,000, but paid only £2,000 claiming near-bankruptcy. He claims to have lost his house and relied on food banks at this time. Anderson then founded and was CEO of eTravelSafety, a huge beneficiary of EU funding, despite Anderson’s pro-Brexit stance. In 2019, The Guardian named him one of seven most controversial new Conservative MPs. Anderson is an evangelist Christian and has been loyal to the whip, bar voting against limitations on the rights of abortion clinic protestors. Since 2020, he has been on the defence committee and sub-committee. During the heated free school meals debate in autumn 2020, Anderson spoke out against “disgusting” behaviour as his office was targeted and his family received death threats.
