Rupert Yorke

Joint Economic Unit

Special adviser

A long-time special adviser to the Conservatives and a former member of the Number Ten operation, Rupert Yorke is the invaluable link between Team Rishi and his party’s parliamentary caucus. An Oxford graduate, Yorke rose quickly to become a key figure in Theresa May’s Number Ten after stints at the Home Office and the Cabinet Office. He moved to become the chancellor’s political adviser at a sensitive time in Treasury-backbench relations, as many Conservative MPs proved unhappy with repeated lockdowns. With any luck, Yorke and his boss may soon find themselves in Number Ten after the current occupant departs.
