Rajiv Shah

10 Downing Street

Special adviser

The Cambridge PhD and former adviser to senior judges became Spad at the Ministry of Justice in late 2019. A favourite of Dominic Cummings, who once jokingly criticised Shah’s loud trousers and effete scarves in one of the Friday Spads meeting, Shah has the dubious honour of being one of the few people to have received fashion advice from someone who famously dresses like a tramp. Increasingly brought into Number Ten to give constitutional legal advice, his role was eventually split between the MoJ, where Shah continues to advise justice secretary Robert Buckland, although late became full-time at Number Ten. Shah is on the right of the Conservative Party and originally from the Seychelles.
