Liz Lloyd

First Minister of Scotland

Chief of staff

Nicola Sturgeon’s chief of staff for more than five years, Liz Lloyd joined the SNP as Spad in 2004 and has quickly risen up the ranks both inside the Scottish government as a Spad and in key roles in the SNP itself, its head of media for a time. Seen as someone who has unique influence at Holyrood and beyond, she has recently been under pressure over her involvement in the controversial handling of harassment campaigns against her boss’s predecessor, Alex Salmond. A University of Edinburgh graduate, Lloyd also has a master’s in European policy.
