Married to fellow Number Ten adviser Munira Mirza, Dougie Smith officially joined Johnson’s top team in March 2020 as a strategist and opposition researcher. Smith has had a number of roles in Conservative HQ before entering Downing Street, including writing speeches for David Cameron when he was leader. More recently, he was involved in the selection of parliamentary candidates for the 2019 general election and is known as a low-profile, backroom fixer. He’s also known for his co-founding of Fever Parties, prior to his involvement in Conservative politics, and running swingers events for couples in upmarket parts of London.
