Snapshot
Matt Warman is the parliamentary under-secretary for digital and broadband and was first elected as the Conservative MP for Boston and Skegness in 2015. Warman was technology editor at The Daily Telegraph, responsible for all news relating to the Big Five (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft), and interviewing prominent figures such as Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and the creator of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee. He was first elected to the House of Commons in 2015 as the MP for Boston and Skegness, facing off a strong UKIP challenge to hold the seat for the Conservatives. Warburton joined the Science and Technology Committee following his election. After the 2017 snap general election, in which Warman increased his majority to 16,572, he became parliamentary private secretary to Karen Bradley MP and assistant government whip, a post he held for just three months before taking up his current role. He has also led campaigns to improve communication between UK politicians and the electorate, expanding broadband in rural areas, and increasing investments in public infrastructure, particularly roads. He increased his majority substantially again in 2019, this time to 25,621.
