Snapshot

With an Italian airline worker as a father, Marco Longhi spent many of his childhood and teenage years growing up in Rome. He lost interest in training as a pilot, and went to Manchester University before moving into civil engineering and then the oil and gas industry which saw him travel across the world. Longhi moved into local politics in 1999, as a councillor for Walsall Council in a seat he has held since. He became Mayor of Walsall in 2017, but was unable to take Dudley South when he stood there in 2005. He is a passionate Brexiter who was joined on the campaign trail by his Italian father, both of them firmly supporting the principles of democracy and sovereignty. With a convincing 11,533 majority, Longhi now represents Dudley North. He is the director of property management company Justmove (Lettings) Limited and owns nine houses in Walsall. In April 2020, he became the first ever MP to speak in the Commons chamber via remote video link. He is vice-chair of the APPG for healthy homes and buildings. Longhi also sits on the APPG for mental health.
