Snapshot
Kevin Hollinrake, the North Yorkshire son of a milkman and a social worker, is the Conservative member of parliament for Thirsk and Malton. Hollinrake established a range of businesses, before becoming a branch manager at Prudential where he worked for five years before co-founding the estate agency Hunters in 1992. Today, Hunters has more than 200 branches across the UK and Hollinrake maintains a 15% stake in the company. Describing his entrance into the political world on winning his seat in 2015, Hollinrake said: “I did not want to be a career politician, I first wanted to prove that I could be successful in business.” Following his election, he joined the Communities and Local Government Committee and in July 2016 was made parliamentary private secretary (PPS) to David Lidington, then the leader of the House of Commons. After his re-election in 2017, he became PPS to the then environment secretary Michael Gove and chaired the All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) on Poverty and on Fair Business Banking and Finance. Hollinrake is a supporter of fracking in his constituency, and is currently vice-chair of the APPG on Whistleblowing.
