James Marshall spent over a decade advising successive prime ministers and cabinet ministers, most recently as the director of the Downing Street policy unit between 2017 and 2019. Prior to that, as principal special adviser to two leaders of the House of Lords and to three successive chief whips in the Commons, Marshall helped get the government’s legislative programme through both Houses of the UK Parliament; over 150 bills in six years. In his new role, Marshall leads on political content and specific client engagements and relationships, gathering insights and judgements from senior advisors and contributors with a focus on UK and EU politics and policy. MAP advises on a wide range of policy issues including Chinese and Middle Eastern market strategy and energy and technology developments.
