As head of the higher education advocacy group since July 2015, McKenzie leads and develops GuildHE as a key representative body in the tertiary education sector. McKenzie advises GuildHE members on group policies and stakeholder communications. He is also an Independent Governor and member of the University of Derby’s audit and risk committee. GuildHE has some 32 full member institutions, including the University of Law, Bath Spa University and University College Birmingham. Formed in 1967, the group has a specific focus on specialist and more newly-established universities. McKenzie is a fittingly modern leader. He lists his hobbies as cooking, wine, box sets and beginner’s guitar.
