Founded twenty five years ago and with an annual budget now exceeding £30 million, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) has been led by Clare Marchant for the past seven years. Marchant led the NHS’s attempts to digitise much of its infrastructure in the early 2000s, before joining Worcestershire County Council in 2010 and UCAS seven years later. Marchant has notably signalled she would be open to UCAS allowing students to opt in for sensitive information about their wellbeing being passed to family members, amid growing calls for greater information sharing between universities and parents, especially with regards to mental health.
