The legal profession is outraged by attorney general Suella Braverman's response to the internal market bill

maceskyline

There was outrage in the legal profession when attorney general Suella Braverman accepted a clause in the internal market bill that gave the government the option of breaking international law. Meanwhile, her predecessor Geoffrey Cox (above), who signed off on the withdrawal act last year as the then attorney general, has spoken out in opposition to the government’s plans. Interestingly, the register of members’ interests shows that Cox has continued his legal work during his parliamentary and ministerial career, while Braverman has not received a single fee since her election in 2015. We can only hope that our top legal adviser is not too out of practice.
