Mark Sheard was appointed CEO of World Vision UK (WVUK) in 2020. WVUK is a Christian-inspired charity with a focus on helping vulnerable children in the most difficult places to overcome poverty. Sheard had previously spent nine months as interim CEO starting in March 2020, during which he brought “stability at a time of tremendous change, whilst also leading us through responding positively to that change” according to Richard (WVUK’s chair of Trustees). Sheard spent nine years on the WVUK board and four years as board chair. Prior to his work in the charitable sector, he had a successful career in advertising and marketing. Sheard has a number of important roles in the Church of England; in 2017, he was appointed by Archbishop Justin Welby to the Archbishops’ Council.
