Patrick Harvie has been an MSP for Glasgow since 2003 and co-leads the Scottish Greens alongside Lorna Slater. Since assuming his seat at Holyrood, Harvie has campaigned strongly on civil liberties issues and was named the ‘one to watch’ at the annual The Herald’s Scottish politician of the year awards in 2004. More recently, he has overseen closer cooperation with the SNP as the Greens seek greater prominence across Scotland as the left-wing alternative to Labour. Harvie now sees the post-pandemic landscape as a prime opportunity to advance the green agenda and finally bring an end to free-market economics across Scotland.
