In 2020, Christine Ryan was appointed chair of Ofsted. In her former role as CEO and chief inspector of the Independent Schools Inspectorate, Dame Christine was responsible for inspecting over 1000 private schools that are members of the Independent Schools Council, from 2005 to 2017. In 2017, Ryan took up two additional positions; one as a board member at Ofqual and the other as chair of TalentEd, an educational charity for disadvantaged young people. In August 2017, she co-founded Ryan & Grunsell, a partnership that uses the founders’ expert network of over 50 education specialists, subject matter experts and associates to implement education management projects.
