Nerissa Chesterfield

HM Treasury

Special adviser

Formerly communications manager at the Institute for Economic Affairs, the former Vote Leave development manager worked for Liz Truss at the Department for International Trade as media Spad before being snapped up by Rishi Sunak as one of his key press aides. She has played a fundamental role in Sunak’s rise and media image, accompanying him to almost every event and providing media advice on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. Frequently seen sporting her trademark leather jacket, Chesterfield is no-nonsense but unflappable, and one of the friendliest Spads in Whitehall. A key figure in any Sunak Number Ten operation.
