Snapshot

Craig Tracey was elected as Conservative MP for North Warwickshire in 2015. Born in Durham, Tracey left school at 18 and later founded his own insurance broker’s business, Dunelm Insurance, at the age of 21. Tracey began his political career as a parish councillor and was chair of the North Warwickshire Conservatives between 2012-2013. Following his election to parliament in 2015, in which he held North Warwickshire for the Conservatives with a majority of 2,973, he joined the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee for a couple of years. Tracey campaigned to leave the EU during the 2016 referendum, citing the impact of EU regulation on his insurance broker’s business as one of the reasons for his entry into politics, and eventually backed Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement, believing that it was the only way to ensure Brexit occurred. He voted to keep a no-deal Brexit on the table, saying “I would like to have a deal that both sides are content with but not at any costs [sic]”. Tracey has campaigned against HS2 because of its “devastating impact” on his constituency, and doubled his majority to 17,956 in the 2019 election.
