Snapshot

Robin Millar grew up in Bangor, just the other side of the Aberconwy constituency border. He studied Civil Engineering at Manchester and his subsequent career as an engineer and businessman sent him abroad to Russia, the Netherlands and the USA. He has maintained a close connection with his Welsh roots throughout his life, even if his primary residence has been Suffolk since his wife’s equine veterinary nursing career took them there. Millar began his political career in 2011 as a member of Forest Heath Council for the All Saints ward in Newmarket, as well as for Suffolk County Council. Yet despite Suffolk providing him with two decades’ of district and county councillor experience, Millar returned to Wales as MP for Aberconwy in the 2019 general election. Since winning the seat, reliably Conservative since its 2010 creation, Millar has sat on the Welsh Affairs Select Committee and is on the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Overseas Territories and PANS and PANDAS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections). He is a former director of the Conservative Christian Fellowship and enjoys taking part in trail running and triathlons.
