Snapshot

Fay Jones took back Brecon and Radnorshire for the Conservatives in the 2019 general election after the party had lost this seat in a by-election earlier that year. Born in Cardiff, Jones left home at eighteen years of age to work under the employ of former MEP for Wales, Jonathan Evans, in Brussels. She would also later work as a researcher for her namesake, David Jones MP, while studying French at King’s College London, as well as for the Prince of Wales following graduation. As a former employee of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the National Farmers Unions, Jones is passionate about food and farming policy. Indeed, she has previously pledged to resign if farmers were ever threatened materially by the government’s actions. Jones claims to be “hugely keen on exercise”, having completed numerous marathons and triathlons – including a half ironman in 2013 – for charity and dabbled as a cox for Twickenham Rowing Club in a previous life.
