Snapshot

As a student, Ben Everitt spent some time working on various Lincolnshire farms. After graduating from university, he held a number of jobs which included work in the DfT; the office of deputy PM John Prescott’s office as a policy adviser; and a secondment to the FCO in 2005 to support the UK’s Presidency of the EU Council. He was a senior consultant at Deloitte for three years. He then joinedthe Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and three years later became their head of strategy (in 2015). He is a former chair of Streatham Conservatives, and served as an Aylesbury Vale district councillor after his election in 2015. He supported Leave in 2016, since projecting his enthusiasm to protect the interests of Milton Keynes, local farmers, and the city of London in post-Brexit Britain. He was appointed chairman of the APPG on the housing market and housing delivery in 2020. The same year, Everitt was criticised for a tweet circulated showing him refer to Tessa Jowel as looking like a “tranny with a hangover” – the comment was made in 2011.
