Snapshot

Tracey Crouch became a parliamentary researcher after graduating. She remained in her post for two years and after a brief stint in PR at Harcourt Public Affairs, returned to the Westminster village. Between 2003 and 2005, Crouch was chief of staff to three shadow ministers, including Damian Green and David Davis. In 2010, she was one of two Conservative MPs to oppose the rise in tuition fees. After five years in parliament, Crouch was appointed to her first ministerial role, becoming parliamentary under-secretary of state for sport, heritage and tourism; later becoming parliamentary under-secretary for sport, civil society and loneliness. She resigned from her post in November 2018 in protest at the delay to the introduction of lower maximum stake on fixed odds betting terminals. Crouch also sits as vice-chair of the APPG for gambling related harm. Previously she has been vice-chair of APPGs on alcohol misuse, dementia and athletics. Crouch did not disclose her own position during the 2016 referendum. That same year, she became the first Conservative minister to take maternity leave. From 2018, she became minister for civil society, an all government group with aims such as tackling loneliness.
