Elliot Colburn

At the 2019 general election, Elliot Colburn became the first Conservative to be elected as MP for Carshalton & Wallington since 1992, unseating long-serving Liberal Democrat MP Tom Brake in the process. Born and raised in the constituency, his passion for politics began at an early age and he is a young member of the House of Commons at only 28. Colburn began knocking on doors for the Conservative party when he was just 13, before studying politics at university and going on to work in public affairs for the NHS, and as parliamentary assistant to Sutton and Cheam MP Paul Scully and to Scotland Secretary Alister Jack. His political career began in 2018 when he was elected as a Conservative councillor for Cheam on Sutton Council, becoming a member of the People Committee and the Scrutiny Committee. Colburn is pro-Brexit, and has promised to extend the London Overground to Sutton as well as to oppose the settling of travellers in surrounding areas. He is openly gay and a member of the LGBT+ Conservatives group; his partner Jed Dwight is a fellow councillor on Sutton council.
