European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed the EU’s planned 25% tariffs on €21 billion of U.S. goods with a mix of defiance and diplomacy. She clarified that the tariffs, unanimously supported by EU members, are temporarily on hold for 90 days as negotiations with the U.S. unfold. This comes after President Trump announced a 20% tariff on EU imports, which was later reduced under market pressure to a 10% baseline for all countries, except China, which faces a staggering 145% rate.
