San Francisco’s new mayor is turning to tech titans to rescue a city in crisis.

San Francisco's newly elected mayor, Daniel Lurie, has initiated a bold strategy to rejuvenate the city's economy and address longstanding social challenges by enlisting the support of prominent business leaders. This initiative, known as the Partnership for San Francisco, brings together a coalition of 26 senior executives from leading companies, including Laurene Powell Jobs of Emerson Collective, Ruth Porat of Alphabet and Google, and Sam Altman of OpenAI. The Partnership aims to improve the city's quality of life and business climate, with an initial focus on making streets cleaner and safer. Led by Katherine August-deWilde, the organization will serve as a platform for business leaders and public officials to collaborate on economic revitalization efforts, including rejuvenating the downtown area plagued by vacant offices and retail spaces.
