Scotland's commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045 is projected to require an average annual investment of £750 million over the next two decades. This estimate, provided by the UK's Climate Change Committee (CCC), represents approximately 0.4% of Scotland's GDP and encompasses both capital expenditures and operational savings from transitioning to low-carbon technologies. The CCC's latest report outlines that, while the upfront costs are substantial, the long-term economic benefits include reduced household energy bills and enhanced energy security.
