No. 10 chief press officer leaves to join PR agency

Mace | 22nd July 2026 | Moves

Dan Mulloy, a government communications specialist, has moved into his first ever agency role.

Dan Mulloy has left his role as chief press officer at Downing Street, where he led communications on AI, technology, industry and the economy, to join public affairs and communications consultancy Blakeney as associate director.

Explaining the reason for moving into his first ever agency-side role, he said: “After eight and a half years in government, including two and a half years in 10 Downing Street, it was time to try my hand at something completely new.

“I wanted to use my experience to help organisations that are tackling some of the biggest challenges around the world. Blakeney is the best place to do that.”

The company has a “fantastic reputation, fascinating clients and an impressive leadership team”, according to Mulloy. “I’m delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting time for the company,” he added.

Mulloy will report to Jack Sellers, deputy managing director and a former special adviser to Rishi Sunak. He will provide clients with strategic media advice, including on proactive and reactive crisis communications.

Blakeney’s current clients include Sizewell C, LIVE (Live music Industry Venues & Entertainment), Viridor, The Guardian and Tokamak Energy.

“Mulloy spent two and a half years at Downing Street, serving under both Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer.”
