Snapshot

Rachel Maclean is a former HSBC employee and is the co-founder of a publishing company. Maclean had voted to remain in the EU, but after entering Parliament stated her aim to “work to deliver a Brexit that’s right for us, securing our future, a strong economy, and the investment needed into our public services in this growing town and beautiful county.” Maclean voted for Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement on all three occasions. In 2017, Maclean co-chaired Andy Street’s successful campaign to become Mayor of the West Midlands, and the following year was appointed chair of both the APPG on women in parliament and a PPS in the Home Office. She briefly served on the business, energy and industrial strategy committee between 2017 and 2018. Maclean has lobbied for investment in the maternity wards, theatres and children’s services at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in her constituency. She was PPS to then-chancellor Sajid Javid from 2019 to 2020. During the 2019 Conservative leadership election, Maclean supported Michael Gove’s campaign: he lost to Boris Johnson. She currently chairs the APPG on carers and on endangered species.
