Born in 1976 and raised in Scarborough, Cherilyn Mackrory moved to Falmouth in 2011 and is married to a Cornish man. She has professional experience inside and outside the UK; her career saw her working in the IT industry in London, Bristol and overseas. Mackrory voted to leave the European Union in the 2016 Brexit referendum, and a year later became a councillor for Cornwall. She is passionate about the environment, and an advocate for cycle routes to help get traffic off roads. She was elected as Conservative MP for Truro and Falmouth with a majority of 4,561. She is co-chair of the APPG on local democracy and a member of the APPG on baby loss; she traumatically lost a baby herself and has discussed her experience of this publicly. Mackrory is also an advocate for increased opportunities and housing in local communities, local infrastructure and investment in the NHS. She has consistently supported Boris Johnson’s government in getting Brexit done.
