Snapshot

Born in 1989, Ben Bradley, the Conservative MP for Mansfield – the first Conservative to hold the seat – is one of parliament’s youngest members. Taking his first steps into local politics, he was elected to Ashfield District Council and then to Nottinghamshire County Council. Although he voted Remain in the 2016 referendum, Bradley has since backed government efforts to leave the EU. He was vice-chair of the Conservative Party between 2017 and 2018 and currently chairs the Blue Collar Conservatives pressure group. He is an outspoken critic of the National Trust’s report into its properties links to slavery and the “diversity agenda” in Whitehall. In an article for ConservativeHome, in September 2020, he said he would refuse to have Unconscious Bias training. Urging his colleagues to do the same, he lamented that “it’s the turn of MPs to be told that all of our thoughts are offensive and should be corrected.”
