Snapshot
Hannah Bardell is a former television producer. In 2007, Bardell joined the SNP central campaign team, producing and presenting SNPTV online. She then met Alex Salmond, later managing his constituency office while he was an MSP and MP. Bardell later worked for the US State Department in Edinburgh, the oil and gas sector for Subsea 7, and then as head of communications and marketing for the UK, Africa & Norway, with Stork. In May 2015, Bardell was appointed shadow SNP Westminster group leader for Fair Work and Employment before moving to Business, Innovation and Skills, and then to Trade and Investment brief. Bardell has not been afraid to use unconventional means to get her point across: in 2018, she delivered an anti-Brexit rap to MPs and later that year she was reprimanded by the speaker for “playing football” in the House of Commons. Bardell served on the Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art. She is co-chair of the APPG Football Club Group, and is involved in an eclectic selection of others including groups for snooker and Scotch whisky. She was SNP spokesperson for digital, culture, media and sports from 2018 to 2019.
