Alice Macandrew

Primark

Corporate Affairs Director

Alice Macandrew was hired as Primark’s inaugural corporate affairs director in January 2021, assuming responsibility for the brand’s internal and external corporate communications and development of a global corporate affairs team and strategy. An experienced corporate affairs leader, Macandrew was previously group director for corporate affairs and communications for Thomas Cook, group director for corporate communications at Sky and lead of corporate communications at the News Corporation. Macandrew is a former partner at financial PR agency Finsbury. Upon her appointment, Paul Marchant (CEO of Primark) said: “building trust and relationships with all of our stakeholders and customers has never been so important”. Macandrew said: “the upheavals of the past year have shown just how much customers love the Primark brand”; indeed, the retailer’s refusal to go online triggered the ire of many of these customers who urged it to set up a website, which Primark has announced will be launched in 2022 – yet in keeping with its unique store-only strategy, the website will be without a home delivery or online shopping service.
